Framed Polka Dot Hydrangeas

Good Sunday morning.  My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge and Damask Love, a beautiful blog dedicated to crafting projects and tutorials was our inspiration site.  You most definitely need to check Amber’s beautiful projects.  My polka dot hydrangeas were inspired by Amber’s brightly colored polka dot Folded Notebook Cards found here.  I loved the floral arrangement Amber had in the photos with her notebooks and my mind went straight to hydrangeas.  I know…..I have never seen polka dot hydrangeas either but anything goes in art.  LOL!

I started by creating the white frame using my Matting Basics B set and attached it to the card base with mounting tape.

I used the Hydrangea set base flower base, leaves and stem to create the flower and used Layered Floral to fill in the fluffy hydrangea petals instead of using the smaller flowers in the set.  The three different sized flowers helped give a natural appearance to the shape of the flowers.

I formed the flowers and flower base with my stylus and molding pad and then attached them randomly on the stems.  When complete I attached the stems and flowers to the flower base with glossy accents and then attached the three hydrangeas to the card base with glossy accents.

Here’s a closer view of the flowers.

I attached the leaves in around the flowers and then attached the three stems to the frame with touches of glossy accents.  I added the bright pink multi loop bow for the finishing touch.  I love how the bright flowers pop against the all white background. Polka dots or not I think these flowers look so alive and vibrant.
