Framed Pine, Holly and Christmas Berries

Good Sunday morning.  I have an old-fashioned Christmas card to share with you today with pine, holly, berries and a multi looped tartan bow.  The frame was made using the Poppystamps Leafy Frame and the pine, holly and berry stems were made using the Sizzix Mini Holiday Greens set.  The bow was made using ribbon I found at Michaels.

I applied strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attached it to the card base.  I wanted to create an all white background for the foliage and ribbon and the die cut frame added another element of interest without distracting from the arrangement.

I lightly formed the holly leaves with my stylus and molding pad and bent and formed the pine using my fingers.  I  applied 1/8” punched red circles to the berry branches and holly stems with glossy accents.  I arranged the pine branches, holly and berry stems and attached to the card base with glossy accents.  I tied the bow and attached it to the arrangement with glue dots.  Check out my multi loop bow tutorial if you would like to see how I make my multi loop bows.

Here’s a little closer view. I added red stickles to the red berries to create a bit of sparkle.

Snowglobe Village and Holiday Sales Alert

Good Saturday morning.  When I first saw the Tim Holtz Snowglobe die set I couldn’t resist purchasing it because I love creating village cards.   I must admit that I was a tiny bit addled when I opened the envelope and saw 23 pieces in the set.  I was sure I had bitten off more than I could handle but after laying out all the pieces everything made sense.  There are two large dies to make mountains and matching pieces to create snow caps but I made them green so there wouldn’t be too many colors to muddy up my scene. I think they just look like large snow caped trees.  LOL!  Instead of using the arched snowglobe frame that comes in the set I opted to use my My Favorite Things Pierced Rectangle Frames.  I added tiny evergreen boughs to the houses made using my Martha Stewart Branch Punch and 1/16” punched circles.

I assembled all the pieces to create the houses.  There are two different  roof pieces to use with the house die so you can create variety in the scene. I backed all the house windows with a Gold Shimmer cardstock from Papertrey.  I used the same paper to cut several stars.  The two large mountain sections in green along with several small trees. I cut and attached the snow caps to the mountains with glossy accents.  I wanted the small trees to have snow caps so I cut them out in white and cut them with my scalloped scissors and attached them with glossy accents.  I cut the frame, applied double stick tape to the lower back  section of the frame and attached the ground snow.  Then I attached thin strips of mounting tape and attached a back ground snow section, applied double stick tape to the back of that section and then attached the whole frame to the card base.  I could have left off the back snow section because it is almost totally covered by the tree and houses.

I began applying mounting tape to the back of the green tree sections and attached to the card base.  I tucked the houses in behind the ground snow and attached them in place with mounting tape. I added the one small tree with the star and two larger trees on either side of the scene for balance.  I finished by attaching several stars in the sky with glossy accents.  I added sparkle to the stars with yellow stickles and to the red berries with red stickles.  Too bad you can’t really see the sparkle in the photos.  This set is fun to play with but I must admit that I would have much preferred using softer more natural shaped trees.  My husband, however loved the mod feel of the trees.  Just to shed a little light on our differing tastes Bob says he felt like was the Jetsons moving in with the Waltons.   LOL!

Snowy Tree and Blog Candy Winners

Good Sunday morning.  Before I start my post I want to thank everyone for your supportive comments on my Nine Year Anniversary post and announce the three winners of my blog candy.  Congratulations to Donna Rinckel with comment #15, Sabrina Radican with comment #34 and Tracy McDonald with comment #79.  Please send me your mailing addresses to email at kittie747@cfl.rr.com and I will get your gifts right out in the mail to you.

My project today was fast and simple and would be an easy one to mass produce for holiday cards.  I love the Hero Arts Color Layering Snowy Tree Stamps  and Color Layering Snowy Tree Frame Cuts.  I thought it was pretty enough to stand alone layered on an oval background with just the touches of sparkle from the glitter and clear sequins. I had the plaid paper on my desk from the project I posted yesterday and decided to use it again.

I attached the designer paper and the dotted layer to the card base using ATG adhesive.  The red and white layers were attached together with ATG adhesive and then attached to the card base with mounting tape.

The tree was stamped on white cardstock with green ink and heat dried.  I used the snow layer stamp to stamp white pigment ink and then embossed with white embossing powder. I cut a second white oval section and cut across the top of it with deckle scissors to create a snowy ground layer.  I applied Cosmic glue to both the tree and ground snow layer and sprinkled with clear glitter.  When both pieces were dry I attached them to the oval base with mounting tape.  The clear sequins were attached with touches of glossy accents.

House In The Woods, Blog Candy Winner and Ellen Hutson Stamp Sale

Good Saturday morning.  Before I start on my post I want to announce that Pam Danner was comment was the lucky winner of my blog candy offer last Sunday.  Congratulations Pam.  Please write me at kittie747@cfrl.rr.com and give me your mailing address and I will get your gift right out to you. I know you will enjoy using the lovely Taylored Expression Damask Embossing Folder.

My project today is a fun and snowy dimensional scene made using the new Sizzix Tree Line, Snowglobe and Tiny Dots Embossing Folder. The little star on the tree by the house was made using the star from Impression Obsession Sun and Moon set.

I embossed the scene base with the tiny dots folder and attached it to the card base with ATG adhesive.  I like those tiny embossed dots looking like snow in the background.  I cut the tree line three times and used one full layer as the farthest back section of trees and attached the tree line base with ATG adhesive and I anchored a few of the larger trees with small pieces of mounting tape. I actually attached a back layer of snow to cover the tree line but it doesn’t really show with the trees I placed in front of it. I cut the other two tree line sections apart and randomly attached them with mounting tape to hold them out in front of the back line of trees. I cut another snow ground section and attached to the bottom of the card with mounting tape.

I cut out a white house section and red window section from the Snowglobe set, attached them together and then attached in the scene with mounting tape.  I added the tiny gold star on the tree closest to the house but you can barely see it in the photos.  I wasn’t exactly pleased with this scene card as I felt like it was missing something but couldn’t quite figure out what to add so I left it alone.  Do you have one of those kind of days?  LOL!
