I had several requests for instructions on how I made my Susan’s Mini Chrysanthemum shadowbox card. I created another quick shadowbox project last night using Susan’ Garden Patch 1 Inch and Mini Daisy and Chrysanthemum set and the leaves from her Garden Patch 7/8 Inch and Mini Leaves set. I thought the green leaves popped against the all white background.
Cut two frames to use to create a double matted frame. Cut one grid frame.
Apply adhesive on the back of the larger of the two frames and attach it over the smaller frame. I used two dies from the Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Squares and the dies were 1/4” difference in size.
Attach adhesive on the back of the frame and attach it over top of the grid frame.
Cut an opening in the main card base with the same die used to cut the largest of the two frames for the double matted frame.
Apply thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attach it over top of the opening in the card base.
Cut a piece of white cardstock for the inside of the card base and large enough to cover the opening. Place thin strips of mounting tape around the square and attach it on the inside of the card opening.
You can see that adding mounting tape to the back of the frame and on the inside piece of cardstock allows enough distance between the two layers to create dimension for the shadowbox.
I formed the mini leaves with my stylus and molding pad and leaf tool and attached them to the card base with dots of mounting tape.
I love the green against all white background.
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you found my tutorial helpful to show how to create your own shadowbox project.
