Good Saturday morning. I realized this morning that I haven’t really made many poinsettia projects this holiday season. Making dimensional flowers is one of my favorite techniques and poinsettias are so pretty on Christmas cards. My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge. Our inspiration this week is a Ceramic Art site on Pinterest and I was inspired by a floral vase. I created the poinsettia with the Impression Obsession Large Poinsettia Set and Small Poinsettia Set along with the Pine Pair, Holly Flourish, Rectangle 6-in-1 Frames and the Taylored Expression Holly Embossing Folder.
I used the Belleek Inspired technique to create my cream and white holly embossed background. I applied Antique Linen ink to my brayer and tolled it on the inside front of the embossing folder, inserted the white cardstock and ran through my Big Shot. I attached the embossed layer to the card base using ATG adhesive and then attached the frame using thin strips of mounting tape. I formed the poinsettia petals using my stylus and molding pad and attached the flowers together using glossy accents. I cut several pieces of pine and a two sections of the holly flourish to create my floral arrangement.
I attached a few of the pine branches to the card base using glossy accents to create a base for the poinsettia. I attached the poinsettia with a good amount of glossy accents and then tucked more pine branches and the holly sprigs around to to complete the arrange and added a pearl to the center of the poinsettia to finish. I decided I wanted to add sparkle to the flower and foliage so I applied Cosmic glitter glue to all the pieces with my finger and then sprinkled generously with clear glitter. Applying glitter after the piece is finished creates a mess but it was worth it. I love how pretty and sparkly everything is. Too bad it doesn’t show that well in the photos.
I tried a special filter setting on my camera to take a couple shots of my card and really liked how it turned out so I thought I would share it on my post. I am technically challenged with my camera so always use the basic auto setting when I take my shots. Let’s just say I was surprised when I ventured out to use a different setting and came up with something so pretty and interesting. LOL!
