Warm Color Lighthouse Circle

Good Friday morning.  I made this card for yesterday’s  Impression Obsession design team “It’s Getting Hot in Here” challenge to make a card using warm colors.  Sadly we had a terrible storm here in my area on the evening of the 4th and lost power for 15 hours. Can you imagine how hot and humid it is in Florida with no air conditioning?  LOL!  We also lost  internet, cable and phone.  Luckily our power came back on Wednesday morning  but we didn’t get our Spectrum services up until late last night.   It is hard to believe how helpless I felt without the internet.  I am so spoiled.  So I am posting my warm color challenge card a day late.  LOL!  For some reason I normally think of warm colors for fall but decided to create something a little different.   I love the Lighthouse Circle and Sea Birds and thought it would interesting to use Wild Honey distress ink with them to create an orange sun/moon, sky and water and make the frame and birds in all white.

I started by attaching a section of Eclipse Tape to a piece of printer paper and cut out a circle mask using a 1 3/4” die.  I removed the printer paper from the tape and attached the sticky mask to a piece of 4 inch square plain white cardstock.  I used a wet baby wipe to apply the Wild Honey ink to the open circle to create the sun/moon.  I like using baby wipes to quickly apply color to large surfaces. I removed the mask and used the baby wipe to apply the ink to cover the rest of the cardstock.  I heat set the ink with my heat gun, applied versa to the whole piece of cardstock and embossed with super fine clear embossing powder.  Next I cut another circle mask using the Eclipse Tape and plain printer paper to fit over the whole lighthouse circle.  I applied the Wild Honey ink to the water portion of the lighthouse die cut using the wet baby wipe and again heat set the ink, applied versa and clear embossing powder and heat embossed.

I attached the sun/moon layer to the card base using ATG adhesive. I applied strips of mounting tape to the back of the lighthouse circle and attached it to the card base. I finished by attaching the two birds to the frame using pieces of mounting tape.  I always like attaching the birds with mounting tape instead of directly to the cardstock with glue so they really appear to be flying.  I know the bright orange color is a little different but it just reminds of the song “Red Sails in the Sunset”.   I there anyone out there old enough to remember that song?  LOL!
