Good Saturday morning. I have a traditional Christmas wreath card to share with you today. I love to make mini wreaths especially for my special holiday cards. I formed the wreath base using my Martha Stewart Branch Punch and embellished it with a poinsettia made from the Impression Obsession Small Poinsettia Set, Holly Flourish and Pine Sprigs. The background was created using the Taylored Expression Holly embossing folder and the decorative strip was cut using the Impression Obsession Border Duo 1.
I created a round circle base for my wreath using Nesting Circles and attached the branches all the way around with glossy accents. Check out my Floral Wreath tutorial if you would like to see step by steps of assembling a wreath. I use different foliage on the tutorial project but it shows the basic steps. I attached 1/8” punched circles to the holly branches and applied red stickles to add a bit of sparkle. I cut the holly flourishes apart and attached long with a few pine sprigs to the wreath with glossy accents. I formed the flower petals with my stylus and molding pad, assembled and then attached it to the wreath with glossy accents.
I attached the decorative layer to the embossed card base with ATG adhesive. Funny thing happened. My eye always wants to see a design element like the decorative border to be on the left side of the card. When I was finished attaching it to the card base I didn’t realize I had it upside down so it is on the right. I know it looks fine but it just feels wrong to me. LOL! I attached the wreath to the card base with glossy accents. I added a small pearl to the flower center for a finishing touch.
Last week I showed you three decorated pillow boxes made using the new Lawn Fawn Pillow Box die. You can check them out here. I thought it would be fun to make another one with a die cut sentiment cut right into the box. The Impression Obsession Circle Greeting Cutout Set is just the perfect size and really pops with the all red box and the white background. I cut the box, cut the sentiment, attached a piece of white cardstock behind the circle opening and then formed the box attaching with double stick tape. I thought the simplicity of the pine branches and gingham bow was the perfect embellishment.
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
