Planted In Faith

Good Sunday morning.  I love making tree scenes.  I just can’t seem to help myself.  LOL!  I especially love making then on a crisp white background. My project today was made using the Impression Obsession Tree Die, Leafy Branch, Leaves and Stems, Sun and Moon, Elizabeth Craft Designs Susan’s Sunflower (tiny flowers) and Planted In Faith Sentiment.  The curved grass strip was hand cut using my deckle scissors.

I started by cutting the tree using kraft cardstock and colored it with a brown Copic marker.  I cut two leafy branches and cut all the  individual leaf sections off and attached to the tree branches with glossy accents. The tiny flowers were formed with my stylus and molding pad and attached to the leaves with glossy accents.

I hand cut the designer paper with deckle scissors to create an interesting ground piece and attached it to the card base with mounting tape.  I didn’t think of using designer paper for the ground until after I had made the leaves for the trees.  If I had I would have cut them with the pattern paper as well. I attached the tree to the card base with thin strips of mounting tape.  The stems were cut with the same designer paper and the tiny flowers were attached with glossy accents. Then I attached the stems in behind the grass with glossy accents. The sun was cut with yellow stripped designer paper and attached to the card base with mounting tape.

The sentiment was stamped on vellum using black versafine and embossed with clear embossing powder.  A thin strip of mounting tape was attached directly under the Elizabeth Elliot name so it wouldn’t show through when attached to the card base.  The upper section of the sentiment layer was attached to the grass with tiny glue dots and then covered with a tiny leaves and flowers.  I love this sentiment.

Thanks for coming by and I hope you enjoy your Sunday.

House Shaped Card

Good Saturday afternoon.  My project today was made for the Inspiration Challenge and the inspiration site is a Placemat Pinterest site.   My house shaped card was inspired by  a red and white Quilted Mug Rug found here. For this project I used the House die, Door and Window set, Square House set, Arched Fence, Border Duo 1, Grass Border, Small Grass Border, Fir Sprigs and Tiny Flowers.  I love the red, white and green color combination.  It is the combination is use predominantly for holiday cards but is also so pretty for any occasion or style of card.

I covered the front of the house with red paper attaching with ATG adhesive.  I cut a piece decorative border in white and then used the house shape to trace the angle of the roof and cut with my trimmer.  I crimped the roof, attached the little chimney with glossy accents and then attached to the card front with mounting tape. The door, steps and windows were attached to the base with rolled up double stick tape.  I wanted them to stand out away from the base a little but not as much as mounting tape would have.

The fence was cut to size to fit on both sides of the door entry and attached with thin strips of mounting tape. The flowers were attached to the grass border with glossy accents and then the  grass section was attached to the fence with glossy accents.

I wanted to add another floral element to the scene so I added sprig of foliage and tiny flowers to the door and window for the finishing touch.

Another Home Sweet Home

Good Tuesday morning.  I recently received the new Memory Box Small Forest Archway and couldn’t wait to use it on a project.  I thought by adding some leaves and flowers it would create the perfect backdrop for a house scene.  I created the house and yard using the Impression Obsession Brick and Square House sets, Fence Border, Small Grass Border and Small Bird Set.  The leaves and flowers were made using the tiny flowers from the Elizabeth Craft Designs Susan Garden Notes Sunflower and the tiny leaves from the Country Scapes The Woods 1 set.  Here’s what I came up with.

I cut two sets of trees using kraft cardstock and cut one apart to create a third tree for my scene. I colored the trees with a brown Copic marker and then added brown ink using a mini applicator.  I cut several sections of the tiny leaves and flowers, formed the flowers with my stylus and molding pad  and attached them to the tree using glossy accents. I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the  back of each tree and attached them to the card base.

I assembled all the house pieces together using mounting tape and glossy accents and attached it to the card base using mounting tape. I added small branch sprigs and tiny flowers to the front of the house door and window attaching with glossy accents. I applied glossy accents to small sections of fence and attached on both sides of the house.  I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of two grass sections and attached in front of the fence.  I almost covered up the fence with the flower covered leafy branches but the scene looked so incomplete without the foliage height on both sides of the house.  I added the flying birds in the scene to fill a little of the empty space between the roof and trees and couldn’t resist adding a few more birds to the fence, chimney and tree branch.

I know I’ve created several house scenes similar to this but I just can’t seem to help myself.  I love the sweet cottage feel of the all white house with the sweet flower covered trees and flower garden.

Thanks for coming by and I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday.

Another Susan’s Garden Notes

Good Sunday morning.  I guess you could say I am on a Susan’s Garden Notes roll this week.  My project today was made using the Garden Notes Sunflower and although I used the normal sunflower colors I decided to use a snow pearl center to match the white in the designer paper and framed lattice. I created a lattice frame for the flower using the Impression Obsession Rectangle 6-in-1 Frames and Taylored Expressions Floral Lattice.  The designer paper is from the Authentique Classique Essentials pad.

The lattice was cut down in size to fit on the back of the frame and attached with double stick tape.  The frame was attached to the card base with thin strips of mounting tape. I thought the floral designer paper was the perfect background for the flower and really liked how the flower popped against the texture of the white frame.

I wanted the flower to be full so I cut the flower base twice and the rest of the smaller petals were cut five times. The petals were all formed with the stylus and molding pad. I offset the base flower petals and attached them together with glossy accents. The smaller petals were arranged by size and attached around the flower center with glossy accents. I lightly applied Wild Honey ink to the edges of the petals to add a more natural appearance. I applied a small drop of glossy accents to reinforce the attachment of the pearl. The leaves were scored with the leaf tool and leaf pad and lightly formed with my fingers. Small pieces of mounting tape were applied to the back of the leaves to attach to the frame.  The flower was attached with glossy accents.

Here’s a closer view of the flower.  It allows you to see the light shade of ink applied to the petals.

This clean and simple project is perfect for so many occasions.  I think the yellow and white with the touch of green makes such a happy card.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy your day.

Susan’s Garden Notes Rose

Good Saturday morning.  I have another project to share with you today using  one of Susan’s Garden Notes die sets and made for the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge.  I love the Susan’s Rose 2  with the stem and bud.  I paired the rose with two frames cut using the Impression Obsession All-in-one Frames Rectangles 2 and Rectangle 6-in-1 Frames and Authentique Classique Essentials designer paper.

I used the light blue paper to create the leaves and stem, scored the leaves and then applied ink with a mini applicator.  I was trying to duplicate the look of the leaves in the paper.  The rose pieces were cut twice and formed using my stylus and molding pad and then rolled with my round nosed pliers.  The base petals were attached to the stem and the  smaller petals were layered and attached to the base petals with glossy accents.

I had tiny bit of trouble attaching the stem to the rose bud and messed it up a bit.  I added another couple of petals around the sides and front along with a few leaves to the back of the bud to cover up my boo boo because I had worked to hard on the whole piece to start over.  LOL!  Here’s a closer view of the flowers.

I attached the two scalloped frames to the base with rolled up double stick tape.  The roses were attached with mounting tape and I applied a touch of glossy accents to the back of the stem behind the larger leaves to hold firm to the base.  I added a black multi loop bow for the finishing touch.
