Floral Vines Birdhouse Haven

Good Sunday morning.  I am hosting the Splitcoaststampers Featured Stamper Challenge this week and am so happy to be featuring Lizzie Walker as our featured artist.  You may know her as Veritycards on SCS or her Veritycards blog.  If you aren’t familiar with Lizzie’s gorgeous work then you need to be sure and check out her SCS gallery and blog.  I was inspired by several of Lizzie’s cards and finally settled on combining features from two of them for my project.  I loved the fancy white frame on her My Thoughts card and the framed birdhouse scene on her Home Sweet Home.  Here’s what I came up with.

I double layered two Creative Expressions Granada and Stockholm dies to create an intricate background for the scene. They were attached to the card base with mounting tape. The vines were cut into smaller sections to fit the card front and tiny red flowers were attached with glossy accents.  The birdhouse was cut using white Woodgrain Embossed cardstock and colored with scattered straw and vintage photo ink using mini applicators.

The fines were attached to the card base with glossy accents and the birdhouse was attached with a double layer of mounting tape.  All the tiny red birds were attached for the finishing touch.  Red and green is one of my favorite color combinations to use and I especially love how the white background makes the colors pop.

Thank you for coming by and I hope you have a wonderful Sunday.

Fancy Framed Roses

Good Saturday morning.  My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge and Schweitzer Linen is the inspiration site.  Wow!  There were so many gorgeous things on this site.  I was especially inspired by all the intricate white bedding with delicate flowers. My project was inspired by the yellow background and rose pink flowers in the Serenity bed linen and the white Battenberg lace trim on the Amorosa linen.

I cut the Scandinavian Background in white, cut it to fit an A2 size card front and attached it to the back of the white frame using double stick tape.  I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and in a few key places on the scrolled background and attached it to the flower card base.

I arranged the three rolled spiral flowers and foliage in the center framed opening and attached with glossy accents.  I love making tiny rolled flower clusters and think they are the perfect size for this project.

This was a fast, fun and easy project and I love how the white shows against the floral background paper.  Thanks for coming by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Hovering Sea Birds

Good Thursday morning.  I have a simple beach scene to share with you today with the main focus on the birds hovering along the coast line.  I love the Impression Obsession Sea Birds set because the make such realistic gulls.  I paired them with the Beach Fence and Small Grass dies with a frame cut using the We R Memory Keepers Nesting Frame 10

I sponged in the sand and water using a Color Box stylus and foam tip.  I used Post-It removable labeling tape to Mask off the water line and then removed it and sponged in the clouds. I hand sketched in the sea grass along the sand edges with a green marker.  I applied Liquid Applique in the water to create sea foam and then dabbed it with my finger to smooth out the bubbles and then heated.  Notice the sea foam spots are made larger closer to the water’s edge and much smaller out in the distance.

The frame was attached to the card base with mounting tape.  The fence was cut using kraft cardstock.  Before cutting the fence I applied brown ink directly to the paper to create a worn wood texture.  I cut the bottom off the fence sections to shorten so it wouldn’t cover too much of the sandy part of the scene.  I bent the pickets backward and forward to create the weather worn appearance of an old fence and tucked it in behind the frame attaching with glossy accents.  I added a few sprigs of sea grass pieces to match the hand sketched ones in the background.  The birds were cut using white cardstock and colored with a pumice stone marker and attached in the scene with pieces of mounting tape.  I wanted the largest bird to appear as if he was swooping into the scene and the other two to appear further in the distance.

I love making beach scenes and most of them resemble each other but I don’t care because I never tire of making them.  I appreciate you stopping by and I hope you are having a wonderful week.

Garden Themed Pop-Up Book Card

Good Monday afternoon.  I hope you are enjoying this Memorial Day holiday.  My husband is working today so I have been enjoying playing with my paper and dies.  My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Technique Lovers Challenge to make a pop-up book card.  I don’t do very well with complicated card folds but I thought this technique looked fun.  I am very challenged with multiple folds and cuts and had to follow the tutorial in the Splitcoaststampers resources closely to keep myself straight.  LOL!  I had all of the supplies still on my desk from yesterday’s project and decided to use it again today.  I love the bright pink and green against the all white background.

The frames were attached to the card base with mounting tape. I tucked the arbor in behind the bottom of the frames and attached with mounting tape.  Sadly the arbor doesn’t show much against the all white background.  I wanted the trailing vines and flowers to match the frame colors and to highlight the fence and arbor.

The vines and flowers were attached with glossy accents.  I couldn’t resist adding one bird.

I followed the instructions on the tutorial resource page for the inside of the A2 size card.  You will need to scroll down to the bottom of the tutorial for the dimensions, cutting and scoring measurements.  I wanted to carry the garden gate and flower theme to the inside of the card to accompany the garden sentiment.

This was really a fun project.  I didn't quite manage to get my inside book attached straight to the card base but I still like it.

Thanks for coming by.

Framed Birdhouse

Good Sunday Afternoon.  My project today is a brightly framed birdhouse scene made using the Memory Box Birdhouse Village set paired with the Taylored Expressions Arbor Accessories and Impression Obsession All-in-One Frames Ovals and Small Bird Set. I used the Essentials by Ellen Woodgrain  Embossed cardstock for the birdhouse and the background.

I colored the birdhouse using mini applicators and vintage photo and scattered straw distress inks. I used a strip of colored  cardstock to create the post for the birdhouse.  The three separate pieces of the frame and the birdhouse was attached to the base of the card with  mounting tape

The vines and  were attached to the post and birdhouse with glossy accents.  The tiny flowers were formed with the stylus and molding pad and attached to the vines with glossy accents. The birds were cut in the same whimsical pink to match the polka dotted frame and pink flowers.
