Susan’s Garden Notes Rose

Good Monday morning.  I have another flower project to share with you today made using Susan’s Garden Notes Rose 2 and Garden Patch 1 1/2 inch @ Mini Roses.  I stepped a little out of my wheelhouse and used some of the Mylar Sheetz from Elizabeth Craft Shimmer Sheetz Iris Sampler Pack..  I’ve never used this product before and wasn’t exactly sure of what to do with it.  I read there are multiple uses for the Mylar sheets but I finally decided to use it behind my framed rose.  I think the framed background looks like a church window.

If Susan happens across my blog post I hope she doesn’t take too close a look at my rose.  I wasn’t quite sure I was assembling it together correctly but I just kept adding petals until I was happy.  I lightly formed all the petals with my stylus and molding pad and then applied Spun Sugar ink to each petal with a mini applicator before attaching the petals to the stem base. I applied Shabby Shutters and Squeezed Lemonade to the stems and leaves.

I applied rolled double stick tape to the back of the frame and attached it to the Mylar sheet.  I then applied mounting tape to the back of the frame and attached it to the card base.  Both the frame and card base were made using glossy cardstock.  The rose was attached with pieces of mounting tape.  I added the small multi loop bow for the finishing touch.

I usually have a center shot of my project but I couldn’t get one because my hands and camera kept reflecting off the Mylar.  LOL!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week.

Garden Cottage

Good Sunday morning.  I have a cozy country garden cottage card to share with you today.  I love the brightly colored Authentique Treasure designer paper that I used for the background of the card and thought it would be pretty with an all white house in the foreground.  My project today was made using the Impression Obsession Brick House, Square House, Swirl Tree, Rectangle 6-in-1 Frames, Leaves and Stems and Tiny Flowers.  The tiny window box flowers were made with a 1/8” circle punch.

I gathered all the parts and pieces of the house and assembled them using glossy accents, mounting tape an double stick tape.  I modified a second set of stairs to use as the window box by cutting of the third of three sections.  I attached tiny leaves to the back of the flower box with glossy accents. I formed the tiny 1/8” circles with the tiny tipped stylus and attached to the leaves with glossy accents. The box was attached to the house with mounting tape.

The frame, swirl tree and house were all attached with mounting tape. I shortened six stems and attached three on each side with glossy accents.  I added the larger yellow flowers for the finishing touch.

Umbrella and Chair Garden Scene

Good Saturday morning.  I’m sharing a card that I made for the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge.  Our inspiration site for the challenge was a Pinterest site dedicated totally to umbrellas.  I was inspired by a beautiful grassy garden scene with bright pink and green flower garden along with a couple sitting under a bright pink umbrella.  I used the Impression Obsession Beach Chairs, Beach Umbrella, Grass Border, Small Grass Border, Small Bird Set, Tiny Flowers and a tiny image from the the WPlus9 Coming Up Roses set.

I started by sponging green and blue ink on the card base to create the ground and sky area and then lightly washed it with water using my waterbrush. I stamped  grass and flowers to the ground area using the image from the stamp set.  I just inked up the pointed tip of the stamp to apply the flowers and taller sprigs of grass.

I originally created a grass border made to match the sponged and stamped flower background but it just looked too pale and lifeless.  I decided to go ahead and add the tall grass sprigs as well as the grass border in bright green to add more contrast to the white chair and soft background.  Originally the umbrella was all pink but it was just too much pink so I added the green section to add more interest.

I tucked the chair in behind the grass border attaching with mounting tape.  I attached the grass sprigs and tiny pink flowers with glossy accents.  The umbrella was attached with rolled up glue dots.  I added the birds for the finishing touch.  I would love to have a place that pretty to sit and enjoy the outdoors.

Spring Bird on Branch

Good Tuesday morning.  I have a clean and simple springy bird card to share with you today.  I had the white decorative layer cut on my desk from from the weekend and decided no matter what I was going to use it for something.  I finally decided to cut a frame out of it and use it to frame the bird and branch image. I guess the eyelet and the bird are sort of a miss match but I still like the way it turned out.

I colored the bird, branch and leaves with various Copic markers.  I’m not sure I have ever seen a bird quite the color of this one but it is what it is.  LOL!  After getting the whole image colored I had a hard time figuring out what color paper to frame it with.  I finally decided on this blue and if you put a gun to my head I can’t tell you the brand or color.  I think Stampin’ Up! but I’ve had it so long I’m not sure. I formed several small yellow flower and attached to the branches with glossy accents.

I assembled the double matted  frame, attached a piece of white cardstock on the back with mounting tape and attached the whole thing to the card base. I attached the bird in the scene with mounting tape.  I like the yellow flowers in contrast with the blue and green of the bird.
