Flower Garden and Butterflies

Good Saturday afternoon.  I’m sorry I’ve missed posting for a couple of days and am happy to be back posting today.  My project is a flower garden scene with a pretty border, fence and lots of butterflies.  I made this as a reminder that spring is not so far away for those of you living in the cold and snowy parts of the country. The pretty borders are made using Marianne Designs Anja’s Flowers.  I paired it with Impression Obsession Bunch of Blossoms, Butterfly Set, Tiny Flowers and Large Fence

I started by cutting the flower border and top border.  I cut flowers in pink, lavender and yellow, formed them with my stylus and molding pad and attached them over the borders flowers with glossy accents.  I filled each flower with a tiny apricot flower center to add a little more realistic appearance.

I cut 2 fence sections and attached them together to fit all the way across the card front. I attached small pieces of mounting tape to the top of a few pickets so they would stand away from the card base, applied ATG adhesive to the bottom of the fence so it would lay flat behind the flower border base and then attached it to the card base.  I applied mounting tape to the top border so it would stand out above the fence.  I finished by adding several butterflies to the scene to add another element of dimension and to help draw the eye up and also to fill in some of the blank white space.

Framed Quatrefoil Bouquet

Good morning Tuesday morning.  One of my favorite color combinations to use for flower projects is lavender, green and white. Lavender is such a feminine color.  My project today was made using the Taylored Expressions Quatrefoil Cutting Plate, Creative Expressions Provence die set and the Memory Box Botanical Stem

I cut the quatrefoil background and then used the largest of the two frame dies to cut the quatrefoil again so it would fit perfectly behind the frame.  I cut the frame, attached double stick tape on the back and then attached the quatrefoil background.  I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attached it to the card base.

I cut three foliage stems and cut them apart to create the leaf base for the flowers.  I attached the leaves around the card base with glossy accents.  I created the flowers by using the negative cutouts from the quatrefoil by forming them with my stylus and molding pad.  I attached the flowers to the card base with glossy accents.  I finished by tucking in a few extra leaves to fill in the arrangement.

Before I close my post I wanted to show the article below showing three more of my projects being published in the January issue of the French Passion Cartes Creative craft magazine.  Too bad I can't read French!

Birdhouse Village

Good Monday morning.  I love birdhouses and have several in my stash but I couldn’t resist the new Memory Box Birdhouse Village set.  There are four different birdhouses, little matching roofs and even a cute chain die.  I paired the new set with Impression Obsession Tall Grass, Grass Border, Hollyhocks, Leafy Branch, Small Bird Set and Fir Sprig Set.

I cut the branch and grass out of white cardstock and colored them all with a brown and green Copic marker.  I created the double matted frame, attached the grass border with double stick tape and then applied thin strip of mounting tape and attached it to the card base.  I tucked the tall grass and hollyhocks in behind the frame and attached with glossy accents.  I attached the branch in behind the frame with glossy accents.

I assembled the birdhouses and attached them to the scene with mounting tape.  I added sprigs of fir to the birdhouses and then attached the tiny red birds into the scene for the finishing touch.

Spring Inspired Window Scene

Good Sunday morning.  I hope you are enjoying your weekend.  My husband worked yesterday so I had lots of time to be at my craft desk.  As you know well by now I love making window cards.  I received the new Poppystamps Small Madison Window Set in the mail on Friday.  I couldn’t wait to take it out for a spin.  It is the perfect little set for someone who hasn’t taken the leap into buying window dies yet.  You get the window, shutters, flower/window box, a tiny die full of precious flowers and stems all in the same set.  Poppystamps also created a Large Madison Window Set but it is still on my wish list.  I know, I know!  I have lots of window dies but can a girl ever have too many?

I cut the window, shutters and window box in all white as I wanted to have a completely white palette to allow the flowers, the yellow inside the window and the butterflies to be the main focus. I used the window die as a template to draw lines to cut the opening for the window.  I cut the Impression Obsession Border Duo 1 decorative border and attached them to the back of the window with double stick tape.  I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the window and attached over top of the window opening.  The shutters were attached with thin strips of mounting tape as well.  I attached the yellow designer paper to the card base with ATG and then attached the whole window base over top of it with mounting tape.

I cut the flowers in pink, yellow and lavender so I could have a springy window box. I formed all the flowers with my tiny tipped stylus and molding pad. I cut the stem section three times and attached the tiny flowers with glossy accents. I applied a 1/4” piece of double stick tape to the back of the window box and attached the stems of flowers.  I cut one Impression Obsession Leafy Branch and attached in behind the flowers to add some height and depth and then attached a few flowers to them as well. I applied a double layer of mounting tape to the back of the window box and attached it to the card base.  I attached three tiny butterflies for the finishing touch.
