End of Summer Love Birds

Good Sunday morning.  I’m getting ready to dive headfirst into new fall and Christmas dies so thought I would make a sweet summery love bird scene project to celebrate the holiday weekend.  Labor Day mentally seems to be the close of summer for most of us. Although we continue to have very high temperatures here in Florida for a dozen or so weeks.

This really is a fairly fast and easy card to make.  I like the delicate and decorative white frame made using the Claudette Frame to highlight the Love Birds.  I layered the framed scene over a pretty embossed background made using the Flower Embossing Folder Set to add another touch of dimension.

I popped  both the frame and embossed layer up with mounting tape.  I cut the bird and branch out in green and then cut the birds out in blue and hearts in pink.  I cut the green birds off and attached the blue birds to the branch with glossy accents.  I attached the birds to the frame with mounting tape and added a thin strip to the center of the branch to secure so it wouldn’t sag. I popped the little love bird hearts to the frame with rolled glue dots. I can hear the sweet love music.  Can you?

Inspired Gathered Blooms

Good Saturday morning and happy three day weekend.  I always look forward to having an extra day off from work especially after an especially long work week.

My project today was inspired by the Pinterest site provided for us for the Splitcoaststampers  Inspiration challenge. I was inspired by laser cut wedding invitations found here. I’ve had Taylored Expressions’ Gathered Blooms Cutting Plate for quite a while but this is the first time I have used it.  What a pretty framed die cut it creates. Especially if you love flowers.  And…..especially if you like creating a card with something that makes a big impact but is fast and easy to make.

I cut the Gathered Blooms and attached a piece of ribbon with glue dots across the lower part of it. I wanted to have a thin frame to pop up over the edge of the flower die cut to create another element of interest.  I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attached it over top of the flowers.

I applied another layer of thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the Gathered Flowers frame and attached it to the card base.  The two layers of mounting tape add dimension between the frame, the decorative flower layer and the card base.  I added a few tiny pieces of mounting tape behind a few of the larger flowers so the center wouldn’t sag against the base.

I created a soft and filmy multi loop bow to finish off the project.  The organdy is so see through that it made it hard to photograph.  I thought I would add a closer view.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend.  I really appreciate you stopping by.

Sending You A Hug

Good Monday morning.  I have a fun card to share with you today with a sweet sentiment from the Warm Fuzzies Sentiments set and using the new Plane With Banner die set paired with the Sun and Moon, Cloud Set and Fir Tree Border,  The frame was cut with the Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Card Templates.

The steps to this card are straightforward.  I cut the frame, attached the tree border with ATG, applied thin strips of mounting tape and attached it to the card base. I popped the sun and clouds up in the scene with mounting tape.

I cut the plane in red and colored the propeller and wheels with a black Copic marker.  I stamped the sentiment on the banner with black versafine and heat set.  I applied mounting tape to the back of both the plane and banner and attached them to the card base.  Fun, fast and easy but oh so cute and cheerful!

Framed Deer Trio Scene

Good Sunday morning.  My project today was created for the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge. The inspiration site was an Etsy store called Color Watercolor. There were lots of different animal paintings but I was especially inspired by all the deerI don’t know how many times I have created similar scenes with the Deer Trio die set but I just love them.  I think they are so graceful and elegant and yet so perfect for a masculine card.

I used two images from the WPlu9 Coming Up Roses set to create the forest background and ground area.  I took a photo of the small branch and small dotted leaf pattern stamps to show you.  They are each only an inch long but are perfect to create a lush background. I started by sponging in a green ground area for the main background scene as well as a piece of scrap paper to cut for the front ground piece.  I stamped the branch several times across the background and then filled in with the leaf stamp to create the appearance of a forest. I cut across the scrap paper with my deckle scissors to create the front ground piece.  I finished the background by sponging in a blue sky using a hand cut cloud template and ink blending tool.

I cut the deer and applied and blended the ink using a mini applicator.  Have you tried these yet?  I love them.  I added a few white dots to the baby deer with a white marker.  I cut a Bare Branch and Grass Border to use to add some growth around the feet of the deer.

I cut the double matted frame from Ellen’s Tan Woodgrain Embossed cardstock and sponged it with brown ink to add more depth.  This is wonderful cardstock to add the feel of wood to your project.  I also have the White Woodgrain Embossed cardstock. It’s really pretty as well.  I attached the two frames together with thin strips of mounting tape.  I applied ATG adhesive to the back of the smaller frame, attached the grass section and then attached it over the scene with another layer of mounting tape.  I attached the momma deer in the scene with one layer of mounting tape and attached the daddy and baby with a double layer of tape.  I finished by tucking the bare branch pieces and grass around the feet of the deer with glossy accents
