Garden Trellis and Wheelbarrow

Good Thursday morning.  I have another garden full of flowers to share with you today.  I had almost all of the parts and pieces still sitting on my desk from this past weekend and I decided to use them.  The Wheelbarrow is another new Impression Obsession die and this is the first time I have used it.  I thought it would be perfect paired with the Fancy Cut border as a trellis filled with vines and flowers.  I was inspired to fill the wheelbarrow with flowers by a card made and shared with me this week by Mitra Friant, owner of Impression Obsession.  She had filled her wheelbarrow with lots of tulips and I feel in love with it.  I decided to fill mine with flowers matching the trellis and vines cut from the Leafy Branch. The vines on the trellis were made using the new Leaves and Stems and all the flowers were made using the new Tiny Flowers die. I just can’t seem to have a garden scene without several butterflies.

I cut the wheelbarrow using Sahara Sand cardstock and aged it using Rusty Hinge ink  applied with a dry brush rubbed directly across the pad. I used a black Pitt artist pen to add dents along the edges of the wheelbarrow to add more age and wear.  I cut a couple leafy branches, cut them apart and attached them to the wheelbarrow using glossy accents

I cut the trellis, applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back and attached to the card base.  I attached the fence section to the base with mounting tape and attached the Grass Border and Small Grass Border using ATG adhesive. I attached the small stems and flowers to the trellis with glossy accents.

I attached the clouds and the wheelbarrow with mounting tape and finished by adding the butterflies.  I tucked the leafy branch in behind the fence and attached with glossy accents. I sure wish my garden looked like this.

Fancy Cut Border Background

Good Tuesday morning.  I love creating a projects with a decorative layer or border.  Impression Obsession has just released three border dies and my card today was made using the Fancy Cut Border. I paired it with flowers made using the new Bunch of Blossoms die and Leaves and Stems

I started by placing my cardstock on my magnetic platform and setting the die in place for the first border cut. I moved the die over and lined up for the second cut.  I can’t tell you how much easier it was to do a multi cut on the magnetic platform and get it and keep it lined up perfectly straight.  No tape needed!  I attached thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the panel and attached it to the card base.

I cut three five petal flowers and several stems and formed them with my stylus and molding pad.  I attached the flowers to the card base with glossy accents and then tucked the foliage in around the flowers.  I wanted the floral bouquet to be an embellishment to the project without covering up the beautiful background pattern. I finished by adding tiny white pearls to the flower centers. I think this would make a perfect Easter card.

I am so happy you came by and I hope you have a wonderful day.

A Gift From My Garden

Good Monday morning.  I have another clean and simple card to share with you today.  I am in love with the new Impression Obsession Hollyhocks die. The stems and flowers are delicate and are perfect for making floral bouquet projects as well as pretty flower garden scenes. I paired the stems with my favorite Leafy Branch  and  thought they were perfect to stand alone on an all white background with only a simple multi loop bow and the Garden Gift sentiment.

I cut the stems using light pink cardstock.  I colored the stems with an olive Copic marker and lightly washed Worn Lipstick reinker on the flowers with my waterbrush. I wanted to add depth of color and interests to the blossoms. I cut three leafy branches using olive cardstock. I formed the flowers and stems with my stylus and molding pad

I stamped the sentiment before attaching the flowers and foliage.  I attached two of the leafy branches whole to the card base with glossy accents and then attached the hollyhock stems on top of the foliage with glossy accents.  I cut the third leafy branch apart and tucked the smaller pieces around the lower section of the stems.  I added the multi loop bow for the perfect finish.

Clean and Simple Bird and Branch

Good Sunday morning.  I have a clean and simple project to share with you today using the new Impression Obsession Large Bird on Branch die paired with the Sizzix Fancy Label and Flowers. The bird and branch are so graceful and delicate and I thought the card needed to be all about them.  I wanted the pretty colors to be against all white but did want some dimension so I layered them over the popped up label.  It adds interest without taking away from the focal point.

I cut the bird and branch twice using white cardstock. I colored the branches and leaves with Copic markers.  They looked a little dead to me so I added some depth by stippling brown and green distress ink on the with a stiff paint brush.

I applied distress ink on the bird using Sofft mini applicators.  I started with the wild honey on the bird’s chest and then added antique linen to the rest of the bird.  I lightly blended vintage photo with the applicator and then used a dry brush wiped directly across the ink pad to add some texture to the darker brown area.

I attached the label to the card base with mounting tape to add dimension.  I attached the branch with glossy accents and rolled glue dots.  The bird was popped up with a double layer of mounting tape.  I love how crisp the images look against the all white.
