Splitcoaststampers Dare to Get Dirty Day 5

http://understandblue.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/files/2013/05/DTGD-Blinkie-copy.jpg

Today day five of the Splitcoaststampers Dare To Get Dirty week long challenge event. This event is a special thank you to all of the fan club members who support the site all year long. Have you had a desire to be on the Dirty Dozen design team? This special week of challenges will give you tons of opportunity to be inspired and to show off your wonderful and creative projects right along with the current Dirty Dozen team as well as the team alumni members.  Are you a member of the Splitcoaststampers Fan Club? My project is today was made for Bev’s DTGD13BevMom challenge with the Cottage Cutz Rustic Sign and Trees paired with the Memory Box Leaping Deer.  The frame was made using Spellbinders Grand Squares.

I started by cutting out several of both sized trees.  I used the negative of one of the cut trees to create the silhouette trees in the background.  I held the negative firmly in place on glossy white cardstock and sponged ink to fill in the opening using my Color Box stylus and foam tip. I moved the negative around and added a few darker silhouette trees in the foreground and several lighter trees to appear in the distance. Here are a few step by steps to show sponging in the trees using the negative.

I attached the tree scene to the card base and attached the double mounted frame over the scene with mounting tape.  The frame was made using shimmer cardstock sponged with gray ink to give the appearance of silver.

I attached the three front trees to the frame first but left the tops unattached so I could tuck my two additional trees in behind them. I secured the back trees in place with mounting tape, tucked the deer in place with mounting tape and then secured the front trees in place with three layers of mounting tape so they would stand out even with the frame.  The deer was colored with an aqua brush and vintage photo and walnut stain reinker.  I added a few sprigs of pine and tiny flowers to the deer just for a touch of whimsy. Here is a closer view.

I know this is sort of a strange color blue to use for this project but I really love how it turned out.  I may have to try it again with all normal Christmas colors.

You can check out my double matted frame tutorial if you would like to see how I create my frames.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day.

My project is today was made for Lydia’s DTGD13UnderstandBlue challenge with Impression Obsession Fir Tree and Small Fir Tree paired with the new Memory Box Frostyville Frame and Debutante Frame

KC Memory Box Frostyville Frame 1 left

I cut the base of the scene out of watercolor paper using the Debutante Frame. I brushed it with water to prepare it for applying the blue sky ink.  I brushed on a fairly strong mix if blue reinker and spread the color until I was happy with it for my night sky color.  I heat dried the paper with my gun because I am never patient enough to wait.  LOL!

I stamped the trees with black versafine and heat dried to set,  Before painting my trees with green I brushed on the moon with full strength wild honey reinker.  I wanted the top of the tallest tree to be highlighted with the moon.  I heat set the moon and then painted the trees.  I heat set the trees and then lightly sponged scattered straw ink around them  to show a little moonlight reflection.

KC Memory Box Frostyville Frame 1 center

I cut a small piece of plain white cardstock, crimped it with my wave crimper and attached it to the back of the frame. This was to cover the bottom of the tree area and represent the snowy ground. I attached small pieces of mounting tape all around the back of the Frostyville Frame, attached it to the scene frame and then attached to the card base. I love playing with the different decorative frames that layer so perfectly over the Debutante Frame. This new Frostyville Frame is really beautiful and I can see several more holiday projects using it in my future.

My project is today was made for Susan’s DTGD13rainy challenge with the Memory Box Gift Bag and Tall Shopping Bag and paired with the Wish sentiment from Impression Obsession Sweet Treats set.

This was a fast and simple card to make.  These little bags are fun and precious to work with. I cut them using coordinating designer paper from one of Papertrey’s pattern packs.

I assembled them and finished them by adding little pieces of tissue paper.  I added tiny little leaves and flowers to decorate the bags. Here’s a side view.

I layered the card base with more coordinating paper, added ribbon and then attached the bags with mounting tape. I did everything in pink because when I think of shopping bags I think of girls.

I started by creating my Belleek Inspired background.  If you would like to see step by step photos of how I make this background you can check my Belleek Inspired tutorial here. I cut and attached the frame and sentiment to the background with mounting tape. KC IO Affections cente

I cut several pieces of leafy flourish and arranged them on the frame and attached with glossy accents. I cut both butterflies, painted the base butterfly to match the background ink and attached them together and then to the arrangement of foliage. This is so soft and pretty and I love how it turned out.

Today is the beginning of the Splitcoaststampers Dare To Get Dirty week long challenge event. This event is a special thank you to all of the fan club members who support the site all year long. My project is one I made for the challenge I am hosting  today. I will give you all the details of how I made my card but you will have to go over to my forum post to see what my challenge is.

I started by cutting the decorative layers using the Radiant Rectangles and the outer frame using the Matting Basics B set.  I mounted both on the card base using mounting tape.

KC IO Spiral Daisy right

I cut and formed three large Spiral Daisies and several of the matching Spiral Flowers.  I cut several pieces of the Leafy Branch 2 to use as the foliage for my floral spray.

KC IO Spiral Daisy center

I attached a few of the foliage pieces on to the decorative rectangle with glossy accents to create the base for the flowers and then attached the three large flowers. I cut pieces of the branches off to tuck in around the larger flowers and and attached with glossy accents.  I punched pieces of the branch punch and attached around the floral spray to soften and then attached the tiny flowers.  I finished by applying tiny pearls to the flower centers.
