Santa’s Sleigh and Reindeer

Good Wednesday morning. I have the sweetest Sleigh and Reindeer card to share with you with a tiny little snowman thrown in for fun. The scene was made with the newly released Savvy Stamps dies Deer and Sleigh and Woodland Meadow Set.

The dies are small so I created a tiny framed backdrop using the Impression Obsession Square Shaker Frame to build the scene around. I used a dotted embossing folder to create the faux falling snow in the background and attached the frame to the card base with mounting tape. I cut an additional frame bottom in white so I could continue the snowy appearance from the snowy layers inside the frame.

I cut two reindeer and two sleighs so I could attach them together with mounting tape to create a little dimension. I cut the reindeer using kraft paper and then sponged them with brown ink. I used a versamarker pen to apply versa all around the border of the sleigh and the sleds and embossing with gold embossing powder.

I filled the sleigh with a little Christmas tree and a few packages. I added bows to the necks of the reindeer and gold cord for reins. I attached the deer and sleigh to the frame and then attached the little trees inside the scene. I wanted to see how to place them after I got the larger items in place. I finished by adding the sweet tiny snowman. Here is a little closer view.

I really love how this little scene card turned out. If you haven’t checked out these dies yet you must go take a look. They are so sweet.

Gingham, Pine and Holly

Good Tuesday morning.  Gingham and pine are some of my favorite decorations for Christmas.  My project today pairs them with some holly and berries along with a couple of pinecones and red birds.

I mounted the red frame on the card base with mounting tape  to create a base for my pine bough arrangements.  I die cut pines pieces and sponged them lightly with ink to add depth.  I attached the pieces to the base of the card using glossy accents

I added tiny 1/8” punched circles to the holly cuts for berries and arranged in around the pine attaching with glossy accents. I cut two scalloped rolled flower, sponged with brown ink and rolled loosely to create the pinecones.  I applied glue every couple of turns to hold in place to form the cones.  Here’s a little closer view so you can see the pinecones better. I added a few pieces of the bare branch die to give a natural look.

I finished by adding a couple of red birds and a multi loop gingham bow. I love the simplicity of this country style Christmas card.

Blooming Poinsettia and Tina Wenke

Good Monday morning.  Do you love coordinating designer paper?  I sure do!  My project today was made using Tina Wenkes newly released Holiday Card Making Paper combination pack.  Each 12x12 paper is made of 4- 6x6" small scale patterns which are perfect for card making. This is the paper I used today.

I love the  Blooming Poinsettia paired with the Pine Branch and thought it would be fun to use these coordinating papers for the flower and pine.

I cut the flower petals in both the red and green patterns to use not only as the petals but for the poinsettia leaves.  I cut the pine using the green.  I formed the petals and pine using my stylus and mat. I distressed some of the petal tips pointing up and some down to create a natural looking flower and assembled the flower using glossy accents. I was careful to offset each layer of petals to avoid them lining up unnaturally.

I attached the flower to the card base with glossy accents and then added the pine and green foliage around under the petals.  I think these papers are so festive and appealing together.  If you would like to see step by step pictures of how I assemble my flowers you can check out poinsettia tutorial on the right top side of my blog home page.

Letters Mingle Souls

Good Sunday morning.  My project today was made for another Hope You Can Cling To Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.  The challenge was “Let’s Lick This Thing” and make a card with a mail theme.  I chose to play with the Letters Mingle Souls stamp set from Impression Obsession

I brayered the inside front of the embossing folder ( Belleek Inspired technique) with old paper ink to create a soft patterned background. I stamped the letter image three times and the pen two with versa and heat embossed using gold embossing powder. I wanted to paper piece the images to create dimension.

I wanted this to look aged so I painted parts of the images with light pink ink and then painted over lightly with old paper ink.  I cut the images out and pieced them together and attached them with mounting tape on the card base.  I finished with the soft pink multi loop bow that I heated with the heat gun to shrivel and age the ribbon.  For some reason I have a very hard time photographing gold embossing so these pictures do not show how pretty this is in person.

OK.  So here’s a question for you.  How many of you are old enough to remember fountain pens?  Oh…and the inky messes they made on your fingers or paper when they leaked?LOL!

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.  Thanks for stopping by.

Window of Hope

Good Saturday morning.  I am hosting the Hope You Can Cling To Challenge today at Splitcoaststampers. The SCS community is joining forces with the Pink Army to create cards to be sent to UT MD Anderson Cancer Center to be given to patients by their visitors. Just click here if you would like to come and join us in this cause.

My challenge is to create a card representing a “Window of Hope”.  It could be any kind of window at all from stamped, die cut, sketched, painted or hand cut.  It doesn’t matter. Just  create a project that would bring hope and encouragement.  Using pink on the card would be a bonus.

Here’s what I came up.

KC Poppy Stamps Madison Arch 2 right

I cut the window frame and flower box for the front of the card.  I used the inner area of the die to draw a template of the window on the base of the card and cut it out with my craft knife. I attached the scored white piece of the card base and then attached the front window to the opening with mounting tape. I cut the blind, crimped it and attached it to the inside window opening.  I attached designer paper to a piece of cardstock and mounted it with a double layer of mounting tape over the inside window opening.  I wanted to create depth with the extra layer of tape.  I attached the flower box with mounting tape to the base of the card.

I punched and cut lots of flowers and foliage to create a garden in the flower box.  I thought the butterflies were such a sweet addition. Everyone loves the beauty and cheerfulness of a butterfly.

Here’s a little closer view of the flower box and garden. I love the tiny ivy tendrils.  They look so natural growing out of all those flowers.

I would love for you to come and join us in the challenge. Maybe we will see you over there.  Have a great day and restful weekend. Thanks for stopping by.
