Faux Dry Embossing With A Twist

I had so much trying out the faux dry embossing techniquefor Monday's Technique Lover's Challenge that I decided to try it again but added a little twist.  I know I am certainly not the first person do paint inside the faux embossed lines but I sure had fun trying it out and I really love the effect.

KC Daisies 4

I used the layout in this weeks sketch challenge for this project. I stamped the image on the green cardstock with white craft ink and heat dried. Using my stamp-a-ma-jig I restamped the image with Distress Peeled Paint.  It is much darker than the Kiwi paper that I used but I wanted to create good contrast between the white, green ink and the paper. I painted inside the flower petals with pure rose red reinker and a brush and heat dried. I then painted inside the leaves with Kiwi reinker. I finally painted the center of the flowers with white craft and embossed with white ep to make them pop. I used a fine brush and added little bits of white craft around the initial white image lines to make them more prominent.  I finished the card by applying stardust gel to the flowers and leaves.  It doesn't show well in the photo but it is so pretty in real life. This was a very fun and fast card.  It is a little out of normal card style but I had lots of fun.

KC Witch on Broom in Moon

I haven't been able to do my blog post regularly and need to catch up on posting the projects I have done over the last several days. I created this witchy Halloween card with Witch on Broom found in the Rubbernecker Halloween collection. I thought she looked perfect flying over the spooky tree tops.  I actually made this card for a special challenge on SCS to use numbers on a card and then realized that the challenge was to make a birthday card.  Duh!  Well, October 31 is someone's birthday but needless to say I didn't think my card would qualify for the challenge. All images are stamped with black craft ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  The witch and moon were colored with reinkers. I used diamond glaze and iridescent ice to add sparkle to the moon. KC Little Lovin's Witch and treater

I am switching gears here and changing from a spooky Halloween witch to a darling Little Lovin's Waving Witch found in the Rubbernecker Stamp Oasis Halloween Collection. Te main image was stamped several times, once on designer paper so I could use the paper piecing technique to layer and add dimension to the images. I created a moon in the background with a circle punch mask and by sponging on color. I created a fun background on the main card layer by using a black glaze and white gel pen. The pumpkin, witch head and kitten are all popped up on dimensionals.

KC Moose and trees

I had lots of fun creating this darling winter scene with Rubbernecker KK Originals Moose and Tree images and the falling snow can be found in Rubbernecker Winter Holiday collection. I stamped the trees on the framed layer and then cut around them with a coluzzle to create the opening.  I stamped the images on the inside layer to create a total scene combining the two layers.  All images were painted with a brush and reinkers. I popped up the "girl" moose and the moose guy sticking his head out of the trees.  I sponged on the whole sky area with blue and then used white craft ink to create the falling snow and embossed with white embossing powder. I used a small brush and painted white craft ink on the tips of the trees and embossed them as well. KC Tree Set SO

This card was created using a technique new to me but I love how it turned out.  It is faux dry embossing. I chose to use an evergreen tree found in Rubbernecker Stamp Oasis Winter Holiday Collection Tree Set. I stamped the tree images three times with white craft ink and heat dried with my gun. I then used my stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the trees just a tiny bit off to the right and stamped with olive ink to create a shadow and make the trees appear to be 3D. I used the sand dune image from my Kittie Kits Beach Master to create the falling snow in the background.  By the way this exact tree has been resized in my Kittie Kits The Moose is Loose set and you will find three smaller sizes to work with. If used all together you can create a wonderful forest of trees. I love the peaceful snow falling scene and thought this sentiment from the Stamp Oasis Petite Word Set fit perfectly.

KC Give Thanks 10

The Limited Supply Challenge last week was to play with a set that you have not used in a while and one that you will probably always have to keep in your collection.  I love the SU set Give Thanks and thought it would be fun to create a layered dimensional card popping up apples, sunflowers and pumpkins.  All images were colored with reinkers and a brush. I love the gorgeous colors together.

Weekend Fun

KC Snowman with legs

I haven't had the opportunity to stamp much this week as work has been pretty hectic.  I got off early Friday afternoon and got to come home and play in the SCS Limited Supply Challenge to make projects with snowmen. Technique Lovers Challenge- Stained Glass

KC Beach aa

The Technique Lovers challenge on SCS Monday was stained glass.  What an interest technique.  You take a simple piece of acetate and stamp on one side with stazon, allow to dry and turn over to paint. The medium used for painting is Diamond Glaze and drops of reinker.  When it dries it has the appearance of stained glass. By mounting the acetate sandwiched in a two sided frame it can be placed over a a plain background layer with a sentiment or any other image you would like.  I chose to apply my gulls in the background.  This photo does not show how cool this window scene really is.  I will definitely try this technique again.  You can check out this great tutorial on Andrea Walford’s blog. Andrea gives great step by step instructions on how to create the frame, etc.

Stamps:  Rubbernecker-Kittie Kits

Paper: Cool Caribbean, White

Ink:  Stazon, Distress Fired Brick, Vintage Photo, Peeled Paint, Latte, Yellow Reinkers

Accessories:  Acetate, Nestabilities, Grosgrain, Diamond Glaze

I am having so much fun with my new batch of Rubbernecker Halloween images. I am really not into Halloween card much and never would enjoy doing strange or ugly projects.  But these images are fun and really not scary at all. Today is the Featured Stamper challenge on SCS and Kim aka Blondie090277 is the featured artist.  I chose a very elegant project to case but put a totally different twist to the theme. See Kim's card below.

KC Spooky Tree SO

I used the same masking technique that Kim used on her project. I created a square mask and attached to a piece of vanilla cardstock and sponged on Distress Antique Linen ink with an ink blending tool and foam. I removed the mask and stamped the tree and bat images with black craft ink and embossed with clear ep. I stamped the pumpkin and additional bats on scrap paper with black craft and embossed them and cut them out and popped them up on the scene.  I sponged in Distress Dried Marigold ink in the moon image. I painted the pumpkin with Distress Dried Marigold and Peeled Paint. I used a black glaze pen to create the little dotted border and some of them got messed up but I really like addition. I used black twill to finish the piece and popped the pumpkin over it.

Stamps:  Rubbernecker Halloween Collection-Bat Set, Stamp Oasis Spooky Tree, Little Lovin's Pumpkin

Paper:  Black, Vanilla

Ink:  Black Craft, Ranger Distress Antique Linen, Dried Marigold, Peeled Paint

Accessories:  Inkssentials Ink blending Tool and Foam, Clear Embossing Powder, Black Twill, Black Glaze Pen, Nestabilities to cut Mask

KC Treat Kitty

Here is another fun Halloween project using Rubbernecker Halloween Collection -Treat Kitty.  I think he is so darling popping out of his Trick or Treat bag.

I stamped the image with black craft ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. I watercolored with Distress Dried Marigold, Black Soot, Spiced Marmalade and Adironack Caramel. I masked the image and sponged on Basic Gray all around the image leaving a little area free around the star so I could make it glow in the night.

I used Making Memories Halloween deisgner paper in a 6" by 6" stack pack for contrast to the image. I punched a black border with the SU scalloped punch and created the scalloped frame with Nestabilities long scallped dies. I used black glaze and Inkssential white marker to add the faux dots and stiches.
